According to the team, these so-called "Shadow Accounts" can be funded using shielded balances held securely within the network’s proprietary STRK20 privacy pool. By leveraging this mechanism, participants can effectively maintain complex lending positions, execute trades, and manage various decentralized finance strategies under distinct, isolated onchain identities rather than broadcasting their entire financial footprint through a single address.

The architecture of the system is carefully structured to balance privacy with onchain visibility. The new privacy feature successfully obscures the direct, public connection linking the shadow account back to the primary main wallet that funded it. However, Starknet noted that the individual balances, transaction histories, and active financial positions maintained by these shadow accounts remain publicly visible on the blockchain ledger, ensuring that the transparency layer required for decentralized trust and auditing is not entirely compromised.

Integration into decentralized finance applications is designed to be streamlined. Once a platform incorporates the feature, users are able to connect their standard wallets, seamlessly toggle from public operating mode to a private mode, and deposit assets directly into an application vault. From that point onward, their designated Shadow Accounts maintain their underlying positions independently until the user chooses to withdraw the funds back into a shielded balance.

StarkWare indicated that the utility of this functionality is expected to extend far beyond basic asset vaults over time. The development team envisions the architecture expanding to support a wide array of advanced decentralized finance sectors, including liquidity provision, lending and borrowing markets, staking services, derivatives trading platforms, prediction markets, and specialized non-fungible token marketplaces.

This major feature rollout directly follows a broader, sustained push for enhanced blockchain privacy by StarkWare across its ecosystem. In June, the company introduced its comprehensive STRK20 privacy framework, a foundational cryptographic system that enables private token transfers and shielded token balances directly on top of Starknet. Later that same month, StarkWare demonstrated an innovative Private Know Your Customer system, which was engineered to allow users to cryptographically verify their personal information and compliance credentials without being forced to reveal their full, sensitive identity documents to third-party services.

These privacy-focused innovations form part of StarkWare’s wider roadmap, which also encompasses technical advancements aimed at addressing long-term network security, such as quantum resistance and enhanced scalability for decentralized applications globally.

As the decentralized finance sector continues to mature, balancing the inherent public transparency of public ledgers with the legitimate privacy needs of individual and institutional users remains a central challenge. With the introduction of Shadow Accounts on Starknet, developers and users alike gain a new tool designed to navigate that delicate balance, pointing toward a future where onchain participation no longer requires sacrificing personal financial confidentiality.

Ethereum layer-2 scaling network Starknet has officially rolled out a groundbreaking wallet privacy feature designed…

[604
857,1490,607,1200,9,905,605,725,1029,211,1489,1488,606
post-1566","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-identity-privacy","tag-accounts","tag-bring","tag-cryptography","tag-decentralized","tag-finance","tag-financial","tag-identity","tag-launches","tag-onchain","tag-privacy","tag-shadow","tag-starknet","tag-zero-knowledge
["GET
