Coinciding with its stock market debut, Evernorth announced the appointment of Hugo Jeandesboz, a former co-chief investment officer at Coinbase Asset Management, as its new chief investment officer. In his new role, Jeandesboz will spearhead the company’s comprehensive treasury strategy. According to a corporate announcement released on Monday, his responsibilities will include overseeing treasury allocation, managing liquidity, and directly supervising the active management of Evernorth’s extensive XRP holdings.
Evernorth’s business model goes beyond simply holding the digital asset in cold storage. The company actively deploys its substantial XRP holdings to generate additional income through decentralized finance yield strategies. By engaging with DeFi protocols, Evernorth aims to maximize the productivity of its balance sheet, leveraging the decentralized financial infrastructure built around the XRP ecosystem to produce ongoing returns for the enterprise and its shareholders.
The public listing and subsequent Nasdaq debut follow a crucial shareholder approval process earlier in the month. On October 2, shareholders of Armada Acquisition Corp. II, a blank-check special purpose acquisition company, voted overwhelmingly to approve a business combination plan that paved the way for the merger and subsequent public trading of Evernorth. Through this transaction and related capital structuring, the company anticipates holding approximately 473 million XRP. Based on current market valuations, this massive reserve is worth roughly $657 million, positioning Evernorth as the single largest publicly traded XRP treasury company in the global market.
The broader market environment for the underlying asset remains active. XRP was recently changing hands at $1.39 per token, backed by a substantial $1.48 billion in trading volume over the preceding 24-hour period, according to data from Coingecko. At this prevailing price point, XRP commands a total market capitalization of approximately $87.8 billion, cementing its status as the fifth-largest cryptocurrency in the world by market valuation. This strong market positioning provides a liquid foundation for treasury operations and corporate balance sheet management as Evernorth begins its journey as a publicly traded entity on the Nasdaq.
