According to disclosures from Tether, the pilot project involved a precise multi-step financial workflow. Hyundai Motor America initially converted corporate funds into USDT, transferred the stablecoin across the network to its counterpart, Hyundai Motor Mexico, and subsequently converted the digital asset back into local and US fiat currencies. The entire end-to-end transfer and verification process was completed in approximately seven minutes. By contrast, traditional cross-border bank transfers typically require anywhere from three to four hours to multiple business days to settle, depending on intermediary banking relationships, time zones, and currency conversion windows.
The operational architecture behind the proof of concept relied on specialized financial infrastructure. Tether noted that the pilot utilized Axiym’s settlement infrastructure, while Hyundai Card played a critical role by designing the remittance structure. Furthermore, Hyundai Card oversaw the intricate regulatory, compliance, accounting, and operational requirements necessary to support the initiative within a tightly regulated corporate environment.
The primary objective of the pilot was to evaluate whether stablecoin-based settlement mechanisms could be seamlessly integrated into existing corporate treasury operations without necessitating disruptive alterations to established internal governance, compliance frameworks, or accounting processes. Following the success of this initial phase, the companies intend to expand testing to additional payment corridors and local currency settlements as they continue to evaluate broader enterprise treasury workflows and long-term viability.
Corporate treasury emerges as key stablecoin use case

Corporate treasury has rapidly emerged as a vital focal point for stablecoin issuers and blockchain infrastructure providers. Financial technology firms and enterprise software providers are increasingly rolling out products specifically engineered to support high-efficiency cross-border payments, dynamic liquidity management, and streamlined intercompany settlements.
The momentum in the enterprise sector is underscored by recent software integrations and institutional partnerships. In April, major treasury management software provider Kyriba partnered with Circle to integrate the USDC stablecoin directly into its enterprise treasury platform. This strategic collaboration allows corporate treasury teams to manage stablecoin balances alongside traditional cash positions within a unified interface. Furthermore, the integration enables enterprises to settle eligible cross-border and intercompany payments in near-real time, while providing access to liquidity outside of traditional banking hours by leveraging existing treasury workflows and internal approval controls.
Empirical data from major business-to-business crypto platforms further illustrates this surging demand. A report published this month by Bitso Business revealed that stablecoin transaction volumes processed on its platform surged by 81% year-over-year during the first half of the year. This growth was primarily propelled by commercial demand for real-time settlement capabilities, advanced treasury management tools, and efficient cross-border liquidity solutions. Notably, more than 60% of new business clients onboarded by the platform during this period consisted of institutional entities, including licensed payment providers and commercial banks.
Broader business surveys echo these findings, pointing toward accelerated enterprise adoption on a global scale. A June Paybis report found that approximately 22.5% of surveyed businesses already utilize stablecoins for international payments or actively plan to integrate them into their operations within the next 12 months. Citing comprehensive research from McKinsey, the report highlighted that business-to-business transactions accounted for roughly 60% of the estimated $390 billion in global stablecoin payment volume.
This corporate push into blockchain-based settlement coincides with a broader expansion of the overall stablecoin market. Total stablecoin market capitalization has climbed to approximately $312.3 billion, representing a robust growth of roughly 21.5% compared to $257.1 billion a year earlier, according to on-chain analytics data from DefiLlama. Amid this ongoing market expansion, Tether’s USDT continues to maintain its position as the largest stablecoin by total market value, anchoring its utility in both retail and institutional applications worldwide.
